Should Teenagers Have Part-time Job
Imagine being able to go out with your friends for dinner or shopping without having to worry about asking your parents or friends for money, you would feel good and independent about yourself. You will be able to care for yourself, you will also be successful in life and you can help the family out. In my opinion I think all teenagers should have a part-time job.
There will be times where you won’t always be able to ask for money from your parents, or siblings. It’s not a good feeling asking others for money so why not have a part-time job and make your own money and not worrying about who will pay for you. Having your own job and having your own money could make you independent. You could go out for lunch and go shopping with friends and spend as much money as you would like because it’s your own money and not others. In your high school years is where you start applying to colleges or university, and having to buy textbooks that costs hundreds of dollars, not a lot of parents could pay for your school textbooks etc, this is where you have to pay for your own education. Also, if wanting to get your own license and car at a young age, you’d be able to pay for yourself, you could also pay for your own gas.
Having a job starting at a young age can make you successful in life. Jobs can teach teenagers work skills that they will need throughout their career life. It can develop responsibility skills, such as knowing how to interview well, being able to work with others, having confidence and being able to manage your own money. Teenagers could also explore their potential career paths. Teens with part-time jobs could also earn higher grades than those who don’t work at all because they have experience and can get far with the experiences. For example, working with money as a cashier is good for your math skills, being so used to all the money and counting, your brain will be able to do the work mentally. The fact that it can allow you to be a better communicator and have more confidence, this would be a good use for presentations in class and good communication skill which could increase your marks in specific classes like English, math, drama etc.
Last but not least, having the money with part-time job, you can help your family out. Since most teenagers go to their parents for money, why shouldn't the parents not be able to come to their children that they have raised when needed the most? For parents that don’t have a good job or are unemployed, their kids can always pitch in some money, for example paying for bills, which is a big thing in every family, it can be hard paying for electricity and all that without a job, so teenagers could help their parents out like how they help them with almost everything in their life time. With a big family you could always help pay for groceries once in awhile, or take the family out for dinner and show them that you care and love them.
In conclusion, most teenagers should be able to have a part-time job. It could enhance your working skills in life, make you more successful and be able to buy stuff for yourself without always going to your parents, but also, you could always help your parents out when they need money.
